Interact With Other Age Groups

If your child is in class with children their own age, then they will learn some social skills; however, their learning opportunities might be limited because they will be spending all their time with children at the same stage of life.

If your child is in a multi-age environment, then they benefit from learning alongside children who are older and younger than them. For example, the work that an older child does in a lesson might encourage your child to focus on that subject.

Or, an older child might help your child if they have problems with some of their work. Children often learn better from other children than they do from adults.

Plus, as your child settles into the Montessori routine, they will naturally help younger children themselves. They will learn how to be responsible and helpful.

These interactions help your child learn how to work and play in a more diverse environment. Your child will learn how to deal with other people in a more real-world way. This ability to work and play alongside children of different ages is a useful life skill.
