Signs Your Child Is Ready to Go Into Day Care

You want to put your child into daycare, but you are not sure if your little one is quite ready for this adventure or not. Your child may not be ready for child daycare centers yet, or they might surprise you by being far more ready than you'd think. To know if your little one is ready to take the leap into the daycare setting, you need to know the signs of independence and comfort. Here are signs your little one may be ready to go into daycare.

1. Your child is okay if you leave them for short periods of time

Is your child doing well if you have to leave them for short periods of time? If so, then you may be able to leave them in daycare for shorter periods of time. Start small by placing your child in daycare for just a few hours at a time for now, then increase to higher time periods as they get comfortable with the idea.

2. Your child is asking to go to school or play with friends

Is your little one asking to go to school or play with friends? Are they wanting to get out of the house more frequently and socialize? If so, they may be ready to go to daycare, which is a great place for your little one to be. Daycare is a great environment where your little one can thrive and be happy while you can focus more on work and other things that you can accomplish while they are in a daycare setting.

3. Your child is potty trained and asking for assistance

How independent is your child overall? The way your child can take care of themselves either by asking for help or by taking the initiative to perform basic self-care tasks — like getting their shoes on or washing their hair — and their potty training abilities, will allow you to realize just how much your little one is doing in the way of independence and daycare readiness. This does not apply to children who are very young but is applicable for those who are older but have never been to daycare and who you worry about.

Your child can be ready to go into daycare and you can do your part to ensure they are happy and healthy if they do. Your little one is ready when you feel confident in them, as well as if they can fit the above criteria. Talk to services like Carousel Of Learning Pre-School & Nursery to learn more.
